Some politicians (read: Republicans) have raised the issue of whether or not President Barack Obama was actually born inside the United States. A few have suggested – it is believed that the issue was originally raised by pundits Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh – that Obama was actually born in Kenya, his father’s homeland. As the United States Constitution states that a President must be a “natural born” citizen, this is a pretty serious allegation.

And, the evidence presented in the matter would seem to suggest that it’s a false allegation.

Was the President Born Outside the United States?

Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Health Director in Hawaii, released a statement in October that Barack Obama, forty-fourth President of the United States, was born in that state on August 4, 1961. Recently, the Director publicly stated “I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008, over eight months ago.”

Congress has unanimously voted on the issue, again coming to the conclusion that Obama is indeed a natural citizen of the country over which he now presides. Detractors continue to suggest, however, that the birth certificate is a fake. And while pundits and politicians argue over an issue that has been proven time and again, less time is devoted to the real issues which affect the country. The truth about the Barack Obama birth certificate scandal is that it’s really just a distraction, something used to create dissention at a time when the United States should continue to be united.
