Congressman Jeff Miller is currently the US Representative from the state of Florida, representing the 1st congressional district. He first won election in 2001, having switched from the Democratic Party to the Republicans after a long tenure as the executive assistant to the Agriculture Commissioner. Prior to his time in office, he worked as both a real estate broker and deputy sheriff, both of which helped establish his focus on a free market and law and order. Today he serves on committees for Armed Services, Intelligence and Veterans’ Affairs.

Among the major issues Miller is addressing in his reelection are the budget and anti-big government. During the last session, the Congressman took a strong stance against the increased debt ceiling and Senator Harry Reid’s budget in general. His right-wing political stances have garnered him much support from the Heritage Foundation. The organization named him one of the most conservative members of Congress.
